Beginning his journey into the world of creating, Steven learned basic cabinetry from his father at a young age. In his early twenties he traveled to Vancouver Island to study luthiery (guitar building). It was there that he discovered his innate design and building capabilities. He then went on to work for Michael Gurian at Gurian Instruments in Seattle where he learned a lot about process optimization and advanced manufacturing. He worked at various other shops before landing at Rush Design back in Brooklyn, where Steven grew up. At Rush, Steven learned more about metal machining as well as metal turning, which soon became a passion.
After, working at Rush Design, Steven moved to the Hudson valley where he founded NY Fab Shop and uses his lifetime of knowledge and experience to develop products and furniture as well as helping others to realize their visions in the design and maker world.
